I’d like to duplicate an entire player’s music (or instrument) in the full score, change the clef in the duplicated version, and place it immediately after the original.
Is there a way to duplicate the complete music for an instrument and append it after the original, rather than copying and pasting the full score?
I need to convert the viola and trumpet parts entirely to the alto clef, and then join that to the score, which is in the tenor clef. How should I do this?

No, there is not.
But if you just need a duplicated part layout with the changed clef, rather then needing it in the score as well, then you can duplicate the layout and use Clef and Transposition Overrides to change the clef in the layout.

How do I connect parts written in different clefs?

Each layout is a different view of the same notes. They are always connected because there is only one set of notes!
Within a single part, the alto clef and tenor clef should be used together.
In other words, the two clefs should be shown differently.
If I understand correctly:
In setup mode, right-click the Viola&Trumpet Layout. Choose Clefs & Transpostition Overrides
Delete the explicit bass clef of the trumpet (otherwise it will override the override!)
In the dialog, choose the Alto Clef for the trumpet:
Do the same with the full score, and choose the bass clef for the trumpet (it’s what you want?)

So you want two versions, but in different clefs, in the same document? How I do this (quite often, actually): in Setup Mode, create different layouts with different clef/transposition overrides, then export the different layouts to separate PDFs, and the combine those in a PDF editing application (on Mac, the Preview app can do that). Don’t bother creating unnecessary duplicate flows in the Dorico project.
Select the bass clef and press Delete.
If you delete it, a treble clef will appear.
If I want to add a part to the back of the full score without creating a separate frame, do I need to add it to the full score?
Try to set the clef override again once you’ve deleted the bass clef.
I made this example partly as a challenge, but to know whether it applies to your situation, we’d need to know your exact setup — how everything is organised, etc. And also whether you need real cues elsewhere, because if you do, my method probably won’t be usable (to make cues look like normal notes, I rely on Engraving and Notation Options that are global).
