Is it possible to implement an additional option in the Engrave → Format Music Frames menu that would fit the highlighted music into “x” number of frames? If I have a single page part, the Make Into Frame option works great, but only on a single frame.
I’ve been using Dorico since 2.0 and when engraving for composers / publishers, I spend the majority of my time fitting the music of the parts into “x” number of pages. I have never had a publisher accept parts with partially filled last pages. ZERO.
It takes forever to keep going to the layout options and tweaking the note spacing setting to hopefully get close - then moving bars up/down to make it work.
In Finale there is a plug-in called JW Fit Music that asked how many systems to create out of the highlighted measures, and then would re-space all systems to the entered number of systems, then locking all systems. ONE CLICK, and it was done. The only thing left was the occasional adjustment for page turns.
I do understand Dorico’s way of spacing, but if there is a “Make into Frame” option for a single frame, why couldn’t there be an option to “Make into (x) Frames”?
Or is there already a quick way to fit a highlighted set of bars into x frames/pages without manually using “Create System Break” or the trial and error of adjusting the note spacing?
