Part length & Split issues

Hey!

First of all, I love the software so much, but recently I’ve encountered two issues in VST Live 2, and I can’t figure out if these are bugs or if I’m missing something. Either way, this is some really unintuitive and frustrating behavior.

Issue 1: I can’t shorten the very last part of a song
I can’t seem to make the last part of a song shorter. For example, my outro should end at bar 120, but on the song track, it extends all the way to bar 185, even though the end marker is set at bar 120. I can’t move or trim it.

If I try using Split, it just creates an extra unwanted Part N from bar 120 to 185. Deleting that new part only makes my outro stretch back to bar 185 again. There’s no way to properly shorten it.

Issue 2: Split tool creates parts in the wrong song
Let’s say I have a setlist with 12 songs. At first, when I use the Split tool on the song track, it works fine. But after a while, instead of creating new parts inside the current song, it starts creating them in Song 1 instead!

For example, if I’m working on Song 5 and try to split its Song Track, the new parts with a “(D)” suffix appear in Song 1, not in Song 5. I can’t figure out why this happens. It starts behaving normally, but then suddenly, at some point, it begins redirecting the split parts to Song 1.

Has anyone else experienced this? Am I doing something wrong, or is this a bug?

Thanks!

Just ignore it…you can set an End Marker, that’s where the Song ends.

Can you provide a way how to enforce this?

Yeah, I am ignoring it—what else can I do for now? But I just don’t get why it extends to bar 185 specifically. Why not 200 or 130?

It’s a small thing, sure, but I sometimes rely on the Part progress bar in the setlist, and all parts fill up correctly except for the last one. It always stays slightly unfilled at the actual end of the song. That doesn’t seem right, does it?

Let me show you. Here’s the video.

Yes sorry, we’ll improve that, makes sense.

Cannot reproduce it, tried to repeat it exactly as shown in the video.
Maybe you use a shortcut or something? Or maybe we fixed something, so pls. try again with the next version. If it persists…here’s what I tried:

  • add multiple Songs
  • select Song 1, add Parts, each with trigger 1 bar apart, so 4 parts 1.1.1 to 4.1.1
  • select Song 2
  • activate scissors tool
  • cut part 1 (Song 2) at 3.1. A new Part is created in Song 2, not Song 1.

Not reproducible in 2.2 @musicullum
