Is there a way to make the part names more readable in Gallery View? They are so very dim and small on the left of the score that I can’t read them. I find myself switching to Page View just so I find the part I’m looking for so I can write for it. Changing the zoom level doesn’t help much since they are still so dim.
Did you check Library->Paragraph Styles->Galley View Margin Labels?

Thank you, jesele, for pointing out this option! That helps greatly. But can changes be made into a default setting? I couldn’t find a way to do that.
You can save this paragraph style as a default the same way you save any paragraph style, by selecting the style in the Paragraph Styles dialog and clicking the Save as Default “star”.
Note that defaults are only applied to new projects. If you open an existing project, you’ll need to make this change by hand (or import it with the Library Manager).
Thank you. I did not know that the star was used to set a default setting. Now I need to figure out how to use the Library Manager and reset an older composition.
A small nitpick, so you get the search results you want: Dorico calls it Galley view, not Gallery. The mixup is very understandable, but it’s a term from traditional print publishing. Further nerdy details in this old blog post.
You could use the Library Manager, but you could also just change the paragraph style in that older file
