I’ve been working on a workbook to instruct a concert band (high school students) in some basic harmony and came across a shortcut I thought might be useful to others. It’s not perfect, but it has saved me a great deal of time.
Problems: creating a book for an ensemble means having large amounts of identical (or similar) text with different clefs and transpositions for all the music. Each page has a different layout, and it would be time consuming to set up a master page for each page.
Solution: Do all the layout adjustments/overrides to one part, duplicate that part layout, and then change the player assigned to the new layout.
I realize there’s other software for putting together a set of books like this, but I think my process on the projects I’ve done (just for students at school) has been faster (and still clean enough) this way.
