I’m working on a piece in common time that has a repeat back to the beginning. The piece begins with an 8th note pickup. The bar with the repeat sign should have 7 8th notes when repeating to the beginning, but I can’t seem to make Dorico create a bar with 7 8th notes without messing up the rest of my score or adding a goofy meter change. Is there an easy solution? Any assistance would be much appreciated!
I started with setting the meter
After inputting the 7th 8th note, I called the shift B popover
So I got this
In addition to @TonH 's solution, it’s also common to notate this by repeating the pickup note.
IMO this is more readable, even though it may result in needing a first and second ending to work with what comes after.
