When I use the clip drag handles (top left, center & right) on midi clips, volume is not affected. Instead notes that start at the beginning of the clip aren’t even played at all (on clips where a fade in is set), so two issues in one.
Expected: clip handle adjusted volume curve ( fade in, overall & fade out) affects volume output, just as it does for audio clips. And notes are played in any case.

Hi Flavelius,
I have just used the centre drop down handles on an Audio track, a AUv3 instrument track and a IAA instrument track and the volume changes on all three and I use this method to alter the levels instead of opening the mixer, saves a lot of time. I have never come across a situation where this has not worked, not sure if there is anything in Settings that needs to be changed? I have looked but cant see anything there.

You‘re right. I only checked the combination and missed that the center handle alone does indeed work for volume control.
So it‘s only the right and left fade handles that cause issues.
Hmm, I have used them for fade in and fade out occasionally, not really had any issues to speak of, but I’m glad you are sorted with the drop down volume handles
Mike
I have to correct myself, even the center handle doesn’t fully work for me currently. Not sure which instrument I tested previously, but it atleast doesn’t work with Tomofon (klevgr).
Hi @Flavelius
I suggest to use automation instead, which works quick, easy and super precisely.
Here I’ve created a short clip for you which shows the basic steps required.
For more details, please check the in-depth tutorials below.
Best wishes,
Lars

I‘m already familiar with automation, thanks for suggesting that as a workaround. I usually have many small clips which I like to fade in or out and using the automation workaround is quite some extra work though and harder to quickly adjust/tweak. It‘ll do for the moment, but I hope the clip/event handle fading can be fixed in a future update.
I just noticed that fading in and out does work to some extent - only when processing over multiple notes, where each will successively change volume, but not progressively over single notes (drones/pads etc.).
This means the issue for fade-ins stems from starting an initial note at 0 volume, making it completely silent when not changing volume over its length. And vice versa for fading out.
I guess this means that it affects note velocity instead of volume output as it does for audio clips/events.
Hi @Flavelius
The 3 MIDI event handles above only change the velocity of the notes when they are played. If an instrument does not respond to velocity, they have no effect. In the case, we recommend to use automation (as stated in my earlier post).
Best,
Lars
Just a small follow-up request, it would be great if all halion sonic selection instruments supported velocity. It seems only some do.
