Hi,everybody,
When I add some text or symbols as instructions and they overlap a bar line, how can I make the bar line disappear partially or have the text or symbols cover the bar line? And one more thing: how can I change the direction of the vertical bar at the end of the range line? (Right now, the end of the dotted line indicating the range of the instruction to keep the double bass ff up to here is pointing downwards.)
Hi @ehitonandakedone, you can select the line, and in Engrave mode, activate Erase Background from the Properties Panel (you can then adjust also the Erasure padding there), and also choose another End Cap with the desired orientation, or a different Line style if you use a Playing technique* .
Tip: if you choose Inward-pointing axis-aligned hook, the hook will be always positioned inwards (to the staff where it is attached to), when you flip the line Placement (Above/Below):

I’ve been able to get this far following your advice, but for some reason a straight line appears before the d in derière, and even when I adjust the L in Erasure padding, the unnecessary horizontal line remains in the same position and the letter moves. How can I make it so that there’s no horizontal line at the beginning, as in the image you showed?
Also, when I changed from writing dotted lines as dotted lines and demonstratives using playing technique to writing text directly on the dotted lines, the spacing with the other instruments changed and the cello instructions overlapped with the staff of the instrument above. How can I change the spacing individually and fix the width?
See the other properties in my first screenshot, especially the Text placement.
I am not sure I understand what you mean…
If you are working in Galley view, there is no automatic spacing between staves (when you add several vertical items or several lyric lines for example). You can expand the minimum staff gapsvalue for that layout, to something like 180%, to work conformably in Galley view (this value influences only the Galley view):
If you work in Page view, instead, the automatic collision avoidance should take care of the spacings. If not, please upload your Dorico project, to see what the situation is.
I set “text placement” to “start” like in your example, but a horizontal bar remains in front of d and I can’t erase it. . .
I tried setting it to 180% as you instructed, but there was no change. Speaking of uploading, I just bought the latest version of Dorico 6 last week. . .
