In Cubase, in tool modifiers,
there is the option of having a modifier + mouse click to locate the playback cursor (mine is alt+shift+mouseclick. This works regardless of what tool you have selected.
It is very efficient and essential workflow to me.
I’d like to see in Spectralayers
For one, it’s easier navigation and faster than clicking in the ruler.
Secondly, it would allow users to click navigate the playback cursor without losing a selection.
Thanks
You mean “Time markers" and “Region Markers"?
No? I don’t think so. I’m not talking about markers, I’m talking about placing the play head.
In Cubase, it doesn’t matter what tool I have selected, I can alt+shift+click anywhere and it will locate the cursor.
In SL, I either have to click in the ruler or switch to a selection tool - which is problematic in itself because I might need to retain a selection.
Awe I see, “I" + “mouse click" works perfectly for me. “I" is the selection tool.
yes this is exactly what I want to avoid.
DOH
Just realized this can work utilizing the playback modifier, just click instead of hold… you will get a blip of sound, but that’s no biggy.
edit
I’m changing this to partially solved, because the playback tool interrupts playback where in Cubase, the locator placement modifier keeps playback running:
Also, the playback tool seems to be inconsistent with accurate placement sometimes especially while playback running (not shown in video)
So maybe we do need a dedicated Play Locator modifier after all @Robin_Lobel

I’ll also add, bit of a bummer we can’t just choose what our modifier keys are, as I can’t make mine symmetrical to the ones I’ve had set in Cubase for over a decade:
I use Alt+Shift for this function in Cubase.
