When I switch between print and engrave or write modes it moves to a different part.
I’m preparing the parts for an orchestra piece and I’m switching between engrave and print modes to preview at what the printed version will look like before checking it printed.
The problem I’m having is I edit one part in Engrave mode, Oboe 2 say, do command-5 or P to get to print mode, spot a mistake or two, hit command-3 to get to Engrave mode, start editing, only to find that I’ve been editing Oboe 1.
It’s not your problem, it’s Dorico’s. I also stumbled over this issue but was too lazy to report it. You can easily switch to the correct part in the print mode but it’s a kind of “unnecessary click”. I fall in the trap to print the wrong part afterwards (but only to pdf so not a big problem).
Print and Engrave modes remember separately the last layout that was viewed in that mode. The selected layout is not preserved when switching between those modes.
I can see where this behavior might be desirable, but I also understand that it often is not. It might be nice if there were a preference to control this behavior.
