Paste text into text frame

Is it possible to paste text from something like Word or Notepad into a text frame in Engrave mode?

Thanks

Peter

Of course :slight_smile:

Okay. How do you do it. It is not obvious to me at least.

Ctrl + C => Copy content
Ctrl + V => Paste content

(I might be missing something here… These shortcuts work in practically any software?)

I think the question might be more related to pasting text into a text frame. @probertson167 could you elaborate what you want to achieve? Editing a page directly will create a page override, which will have consequences for automatic updating of a layout. Depending on what you want to achieve, we can give you advice on the best way to do so.

You are absolutely right. I was looking for a cursor or input caret in the text box and there isn’t one. I did Ctrl + C and Ctrl + V and it works.

Thanks

I was trying to populate a text frame with prewritten text from a word processor. As @estigy pointed out Ctrl C and Ctrl V works. However I am used to seeing an insert caret or cursor to indicate where the insert will happen but Dorico doesn’t seem to provide this neither is any right click access to the normal paste menu.

Lesson learnt - use standard keyboard shortcuts and assume that they will work!

I get a cursor when I double click in a text frame, in preparation for pasting.

Now I’ve looked more closely there is a cursor but it is partially masked by the text box outline. Dorico certainly provides a way of doing almost everything!

I’m now going to try making a table of contents!

Oh, I’m really sorry, @probertson167!

From my work as a programmer I am so used to hitting those shortcuts on the keyboard that I didn’t event think for a second about people looking entries in the context menu or the main menu. I do apologize :wink:

Absolutely no need to apologise! Every day is a learning day!
