Pasting Percussion Lines

My Finale to Dorico conversion via XML has created a 3-line and a 5-line percussion staves that only use 2-lines each (1 & 3, 2 & 4). How can I paste these into my destination file with 2-line percussion staves?

Pasting the 3 line to two lines gives the upper line only in the destination.
Pasting the 5 line to two lines gives nothing.

I also need to merge multiple percussion lines into one line.

A Percussion kits is a collection of unpitched percussion instruments that are played by a single player, rather than just a “percussion staff”.

When pasting into Percussion kits it’s usually best to change the staff presentation type to Single-line Instruments (via Layout Options).

This will allow you to see and choose exactly which instrument in the kit that you are pasting to.

Does this make sense?

The problem I have is that I need to merge lines. The conversion process has somehow split some percussion over multiple lines (3). WHen I go to the layout options, I see the ability to set Single line, Grid (with no number setting which is selected), and 5-line staff.

If select 1-line staff, the notes on the third line (second line is empty) disappear. I need to figure out how to merge the 1st and 3d lines into one line.

A major problem I am having is that on XML import, Dorico does not like having a player hit two bongo drums at once. The notes for one of the drums just disappears.

Thx

This is usually achievable if you engage chord mode (Q) before you do the paste. You may end up with duplicated notes, but you won’t lose any of the original.
