Pattern Editor - Global Swing not affecting pattern

I have created a drum machine pattern using the momentum preset. I have adjusted the pattern swing parameter in the top section of the pattern editor but there is no discernable swing being added to the pattern. I have tried this after dragging a pattern in to the track and also without a pattern part being present in the track. Also with wild amounts of positive and negative swing but still nothing.
What am I doing wrong please?

works fine for me (Cubase 14.0.5 on Win10)

noteworthy: swing depends on resolution

e.g

  • set resolution to 1/16
  • fill hi-hat pattern with 16th steps
  • move swing slider
  • swinging
  • set resolution to 1/16
  • make a hi-hat pattern of only 8th steps (e.g. steps 1,3,5,7,9,11,13,15)
  • not swinging
  • set resolution to 1/8
  • fill hi-hat pattern with 8th steps
  • swinging

Thanks - I’ll take a look back at the project to see if it had the right settings.
