Hi, so I just started playing around with the pattern editor and am learning a lot about it.
Here are some things I would like to do but can’t/don’t know how:
how to initialize everything? I can remove ‘all steps from lane/pattern’, but it doesn’t remove all hits as well. (eg, after switching drum kit in a 3rd party drum instrument where there may be different mappings)
-how to reorder the hits? I guess manually recreating every pad is the only way
-how to save/load different mapping setups?
-how to record/‘tap’ into editor? when I try to record with the ‘preview’ button, it records into a MIDI clip on the Arranger (it crashed one time because there was some kind of midi buffer issue (tons of notes all recorded at once…))
-how to setup a pitch parameter lane as a default (mapped by semitones)
-how to get all drum pads automatically from Groove Agent? Similarily to Drum Machine
-how to import a Groove Agent kits directly into Drum Machine, even better.
Also, what does the AI feature do under Parameter Lane? I can’t seem to hear anything so far.
Such a great and powerful tool to have. Thank you!
In the pattern editors toolbar, select new pattern to empty what you have, and save the one you have as preset first if yuo want to get back to the first one later on. More options (dublicate etc) in ther same dropdown window.
And study the options there! Patterns are saved as numbered, or you can rename it. Take a look in the manual for the pattern editor also; it’s worth the effort.
Oh, I am awefully sorry. I forgot to mention that you have to click the “add lane” button until all the pads appear. Yeah, it is not super comfortable but it works.
I still have a question remaining regarding loading the Pattern Editor saved setups. As I mentioned previously there is save, rename and delete option but no way to load a setup.
Can anyone else confirm this?
As to my other question regarding how to reset everything, I setup a key command to ‘remove step lane’, that gets the job done in a hurry.

I guess I was wrong, there is no way to save or load Pattern Editor setups.
Nothing in the PE is recalled when loading a track preset. I thought it did but no..
If you select a “new pattern” in the dropdown windom (see my pic) , you’ll have a “2 pattern” (and I have “3 pattern” as you can see. Then you will have these patterns as selectables in the dropdown to load nr 1, 2 or 3 or as many you’ve made.
Buer, that was not my question, but thank you anyway.
I was interested in loading/saving the entire mapping setup for the Pattern Editor, not the Patterns themselves.
As Johnny pointed out, the support for Drum Maps is only partially implemented in Pattern Editor, and it doesn’t support ‘swapping’ like Drum Machine does. Otherwise, I could just use Drum Maps.
Also, my attempts to use Track Presets didn’t work.
