Patterning 3 (AUv3) → Cubasis 3: cannot record audio output to track

Hello,

I am trying to use Patterning 3 as an AUv3 instrument inside Cubasis 3.8.3 on iPad Pro (iPadOS 26.3.1).

Current behaviour:

  • Patterning 3 loads correctly as an Audio Unit instrument
  • Tempo sync works (Patterning follows Cubasis)
  • Patterns and Timeline play correctly when pressing play/record in Cubasis

Problem:

  • I cannot record the audio output from Patterning 3 onto an audio track in Cubasis
  • Recording an audio track produces a flat waveform (no signal)
  • I cannot find a routing or configuration that enables this

Goal:

  • Record (or “print”) the Patterning AU output directly into Cubasis as audio, while retaining tempo sync

What I have tried:

  • Creating audio tracks and arming them for recording
  • Using Cubasis Mixdown
  • Reviewing both manuals (Cubasis / Patterning)
  • Watching AUv3 workflow tutorials

Workaround:

  • Export audio from Patterning and import into Cubasis (works, but sub-optimal)

Request:
Could you confirm:

  1. Whether recording AUv3 instrument output from Patterning into Cubasis audio tracks is supported
  2. If so, the exact routing/setup required
  3. If not, the recommended workflow

If there is a tutorial or documentation covering this specific case, a link would be very helpful.

Thank you.

Until Cubasis gets more flexible audio-routing there’s always the option to freeze the track to create an audio-file of the plug-ins output.

PDF contains brief workflow guide to create audio track from Patterning 3 Timeline/Pattern in Cubasis 3. Freezing the Audio Unit track appears to be the best workaround available at present.
