PC halts while mixing and playing

Under 13, I’ve had a couple of weird crashes, generally while mixing. so playing and fiddling with VST effects.

Difficult to pin down the exact action, but the result is that the Windows 11 PC completely freezes, no BSoD, just completely halted, unresponsive, no mouse movement or response to alt-ctrl-del, long press on power button required. As it is a halt, I don’t think there are any logs.

I first saw this on 13 on a C12 project so discounted it, but I’ve just had it on a 13.0.20 on a fresh project. Mainly Cubase VST with the odd Waves compressor and BiasFX2 guitar amp.

I can’t eliminate a change to Windows as I leave automatic updating on.

[Edit] Just had an other example, Cubase playing against drum track, monitoring guitar through BiasFX2, locked. I’ve now updated BiasFX2 to see if that eliminates the issue, but as it is rare, not sure that will be definitive in tying it down.

Not expecting a fix, just noting it in case others have observed.

It might be some corrupted file in the system. To check it out follow this:

Open Command Prompt as administrator
Use the following command and press Enter: sfc /scannow

Hi

Thanks for the response, apologies for the delay, New Year gigs and poorly sick!

Ran the scan, and this popped out:

Bluetooth seems to be a well-known source of BSODs even though I am not actively using BT at the moment.

Thanks for that, and I can keep monitoring to see if that’s eliminated it.

You’re welcome, it should be ok now. :+1:t3:
