I have a question regarding the storage of the pdf used with VST Viewer. Is it directly stored in the project or is it a link to the original path of the pdf?
… the VST Viewer saves the path of the PDF. Do you have a workflow that requires more?

I use 2 computers. One at the studio and one at home. I have an external SSD drive with all content and project files, which I take with me. Up to now, there was no need to make shure, that the drive has the same letter on each computer. But thats not a big issue.
