.peak files Images folder always re-drawing

Since the update to the June version of N14, every time I open a project, the images folder needs to re-draw all the .peak files.
What is causing that?

And now rolling back to 14.0.3.0 does the same thing. Should I be resetting my preferences?

Are you on Mac?
In your project folder, do you see the .peak files in the “Images” subfolder?

On Windows 10PC. Yes, the peak files are in the images folder, then when you reopen, they make more new peak files.

I have the same thing…
MAC latest os

Let’s hope @TimoWildenhain can help with this.

Hello @grantmc , thanks for reporting this issue. With “June version” you mean N14.0.31 (June 4) or 14.0.32 (June 20)?
There were 2 hotfixes in June.

Thanks,
Timo

I did the June 20 update and then rolled back to the earlier one. They both seem to have the issue.
Thanks,
Grant

hi timo,

i mentionned that very same problem in another message here, and also contacted support a week ago about that (request #714280). it happens to me also, with the very last version.

best, benoit

14.0.32 for me.

So just got this today and seem to happen after a crash and nuendo saves an new file to avoid corruption. Might be related.

I’m having the same issue, 14.0.32, rolled back to …0.31 but still happening. Reported to Steinberg support on 27.06.25.

…3 weeks gone, no answer from steinberg’s support yet.

So I just ran into windows trashing my preferences likely due to of course a forced large update and now when starting a new project i’m running into the Nuendo crashing on close thing. I’m wondering if this is related to images having to be rebuild, as its doing it every time I reopen this project file and its not saving preferences etc. May be connected. Steinberg hope you are taking note.

Update: managed to remove third party plugs and Nuendo was able to close without crashing but images rebuilding on load up still present so scratch that theory.

Hi everyone,

To gather details for a potential bug report, I’ve reviewed your posts in this thread as well as the support tickets. Based on what I’ve seen, the issue appears to affect Nuendo on macOS and Windows systems.

Resetting Nuendo preferences or rolling back to a previous version doesn’t seem to resolve the problem. I’ve also noticed that some of you are working from external drives, while others are saving projects to internal drives. Older projects as well as newly created projects are affected.

Just to confirm—have you all checked that Nuendo has the necessary permissions to access your default project locations?

Does the issue also occur when importing all the tracks into a new project file?

Cheers,
Jochen

Jochen, here is some more…

Thanks @Jochen_Dally are you suggesting that we run Nuendo with admin rights ?(on Windows) or to check hard drive permissions? Problem doesn’t exists in N13 as far as I know as well so might not be the case. Though will give that a shot.

Any solutions yet? This is always happening and driving me crazy.

The problem doesn’t exist in Nuendo 13, Cubase 13. I realize it since Nuendo 14.0.30.

Importing the whole tracks, or even creating new project doesn’t solve the problem, I tried those all. However, if I try to reset NVRam (on Mac M1, unplug all external devices, reboot, plug those HDDs back), most of those files are ready, but the problem still happens to some others. Since then, reset NV Ram did nothing more.

Running as Admin changes nothing. It still always needs to make new .peak files.
