I have a Peavey 1600x Hardware mixer. Several incarnations of Cubase ago, I had it working to control the Cubase mixer, by using a Mackie mixer map (aka script). I am trying to get it to work with C12, with no luck. There is no Mackie mixer map anymore in C12. I dug around on line and found some maps in .xml and .syx (.sysex), and .pmi format, but I could not get any of them to load into C12, So I tried looking in C2 application support (Mac) and in package contents, to see what suffix C12 uses for its built in maps, but no luck there. SO, I tried to build a map, I built a 16 fader map, but, no matter which 1600x fader I move, Any fader will only move the highlighted Cubase on screen mixer fader.
So several questions:
Anybody got a working Peavey 1600x Mixer map (script)? That works with C12 OSX?
A Mackie mixer map that works in C12?
Advice on building a custom mixer script?
Hi,
If it supports Mackie Control Protocol, you can Add Remote Device in the Studio Setup and choose Mackie Control from the list. Add two of them to get 16 channels.
thanks, Martin - my bad - I was looking and trying to build a remote in Midi Remote manager. The Mackie did not work, but I tried “Add Device>Generic Remote”, and it did control the audio faders.
Since I have templates for the Peavey, where would I put them so that “Add Device” will see them?
Hi,
You would need a dedicated Cubase component for this.
Does the device support Mackie Control protocol?
The 1600x works with generic, controlling the audio track faders. Formerly, the 1600x scroll wheel could be set to control Cubase cursor location, but teh generic map controls the fader.
I discovered If I used “Import”, C12 sees the .xml 1600x mixer map. I did import it but All 1600x faders worked on only Cubase mixer fader 1, so I need to figure out why. I ws able to return C1 to the Generic Remote set up, so, at least, I have working audio faders. I want to get the mute / solo buttons on the 1600x to work, next
I’ve been using a 1600x for a long time with Cubase. I am on C’base 10.5, but I supect it would work fine with 12 if you set it up properly. Currently I use it in a tiny vocal closet, with buttons programmed to transport controls for the most part. I can shut the closet door, watch the CB screen from a 2nd monitor, and use the 1600x to record vocal tracks without driving neighbors or my wife nuts… and to be uninhibited. But I can tell you the faders work fine, though with a limitation- the track assignments will be scrambled if you move tracks. For me that just doesn’t work, at least at present, because it is a mismatch to my eccentric workflow.
ALSO, Gen Remotes can be exported and imported (why it isn’t save and open I dunno). and note the “1600x 1-16” im screen shot - enables swift swapping. Lastly FWIW here is my preset.
