Pedal change markings for harp

Help… I arrange for harp and need to add pedal changes which include sharp, flat and natural symbols. I’ve tried typing in tokens, unicode, nothing seems to work. I’ve been using the lyrics popover.

Would appreciate some help!

If I understand your question, try this. Highlight a section, use the jump bar (“J”) and type in “Calculate harp pedals.” See the Layout Options to show a pedal diagram or letters (with sharp & flats).

Hi Guys - Thanks for your response! Those are helpful areas that I had not yet explored. I don’t think they solve my problem, however. I’ll attach the arrangement I’m working on.

This is an export from Finale. You will see throughout the work pedal markings that are meant to be below the staff and indicate when and what pedals need to be changed. Measures 20-21 are a good example. Somehow the export process moved them around and rendered the changes to natural read “F-natural” instead of with the symbol. I’m looking for an easy way to enter these changes with their symbols under the staff like in measure 4. (Fb)

All the pedal markings are staff text. If you want Dorico to put in harp pedal diagrams or text, you need to do a few things:

  • In setup mode, change the instrument to Harp.
  • Use the Calculate harp pedals function everywhere the text imported from Finale is currently present.
  • Delete the text harp pedals. (Select all, filter for text, then delete).

You can flip (“F”) the harp diagrams/text to beneath the staff or move them to the appropriate staff. (Ctrl-M to move to the staff below).
