When converting a 1-line percussion instrument to a 5-line version, there are a few things missing.
Here I had 2 identical instruments, then changed second to a 5-line type (kit).
Dynamics are missing.
This is a known issue — I think I wrote about it five or six years ago… Dynamic markings are different whether you use 1 line staves or 5-line-staves.
I wouldn’t go so far as to call this an “issue”, since it is the designed behaviour. When instruments are combined together in a kit, they may well end up with multiple instruments combined into a single voice, and the dynamics from those source instruments may well not agree or conflict. To avoid this, we have separate dynamics for the single-instrument and grid/five-line staff presentation types.

You’re looking at it from a technical standpoint.
If you had done what I did and had a longer section of fully written single-line perc. and converted it to 5-line versions (not really as kits, it’s still single instruments). And then realizing all your dynamics were deleted, then you’d probably call this an issue.

They should still exist in the single-line presentation. Your best bet is to temporarily convert one of your layouts to show the kit as “Single-line instruments”, then select all the dynamics, then cut them to the clipboard, then convert it back to “Grid” or “5-line staff”, and then paste them there. That basically moves the dynamics from the individual instrument into the kit.

I can confirm this behavior as I do a lot of writing in single-line kits and then “condense” to grid or 5-line at the end, where sometimes I will do that trick of copying over dynamics. Though it seems they “disappear,” fortunately for the sake of playback and individual parts, the dynamics are still retained in single-line view if you need to go back.
It does make sense to me that they don’t all show up – let’s say if you have individual dynamics for 8 different instruments reduced down to a 5-line view it would be visually chaotic, IMHO.
It should be an option on import. Your case of merging many single-liners into one kit is different than changing them into individual 5-liners (my case).
Current workaround:
- Save copy of project as version
- Convert 1-liners to 5-line kits
- Use version to import dynamics line by line
