Percussion 5 stave - Please help!

Hi Guys,

I’m at the end of my tether and I’m really hoping someone can help. I am unable to create a 5 line stave for percussion in Dorico 5.0

I have read all the other threads and gone into the layout options, then to the players tab. The issue is, the percussion tab is not there at all. I have scoured the furthest corners of the internet and reinstalled the software but I cannot find an answer.

I would forever grateful if anyone has any idea what the problem could be.

Thanks

Natalie

Welcome to the forum, @natcurtismusic !

Have you actually added a percussion player in Setup mode? And then is there a Percussion layout also visible in Setup mode?

If so, if you scroll that Layouts list down, you should see the Percussion layout listed there.

Edit: If you don’t have a percussion player defined, then the Percussion option under Players won’t show up, either.

Even though I’m not the OP, I really want to thank you for this. I have been trying for 3 years to figure this out and was missing the layout part. This makes my percussion part much easier for the player to read when having to switch between pitched and unpitched instruments.

Welcome to the forum @natcurtismusic – sorry to hear you’ve been on such a journey for this so far.

Specifically, there needs to be a percussion kit somewhere in your project, not just an unpitched percussion instrument. Only kits can appear as a 5-line staff in one layout but a grid in another, for example.
