Percussion condensing kerfuffle

generally speaking, Dorico does percussion condensing beautifully, but sometimes it makes odd choices, such as below.

How can I fix this?…. (it’s awful on one page, and correct on the next.)

You could add a chord symbol region from the write menu to one of the drums.

Hi @Elljay, what you show has nothing to do with condensing, it is an Instrument Change. For some reason on the second page there is no instrument change (probably because later in that system there are simultaneous notes on both instruments).

If you don’t want to have instrument changes at all for that player, combine the two instruments into a kit, an choose the Single-line Instruments view from Layout Options>Players>percussion, for the desired layout/s:
