I’m attempting to setup a custom percussion kit for ease of note entry for jazz ensemble scores. To do this, I add an instrument called “percussion” in the “sketch” category to my kit. This instrument goes directly above the top staff line, in the same space that the Hi-Hat is at by default. I would like to find a way where when I click a note in that position, it places a note into the “Percussion” sketch instrument, and not the Hi-Hat instrument. Of course, I could delete the Hi-Hat instrument from the kit, but sometimes I need it to show a groove example. Most of the notation for jazz ensemble is going to be cues however, which are notated on that “percussion” instrument. I’ve attempted to re-order the instruments in both the grid and single-line instrument display, but the behavior of note entry does not seem to change.
