Percussion Map vs. Midi Mapping

Hey there, quite some time ago and no updates on how unpitched percussion and percussion maps are behaving. I got more used to dorico chargon so I will try to explain the problems again.

At first I’m still not able to lock note duration for percussion kits with percussion map.

Please give us the ability to “misuse” a percussion map, as mapping tool for very specific midi instruments. In finale I just could say on Midi Input Note 0, place the a notehead at this position with this noteheads for every duration.

It required also some extra-steps, but set up once, it worked like a charme.

If there won’t be a “misuse” for percussion maps, maybe just give us an option for a midi input/output mapping for such special cases. I already found a way to map my midi device input externally before it goes into dorico, but the missing opportunitie for using the extremely powerful notation features of dorico like locking durations, makes it senseless. As I’m basically need a percussion map for pitched percussion, to describe it the most easy way. I would love to hear that the team is already working on something or at least talking about something.

If you could show a screenshot (from Finale, if you wish) of what your requested capabilities let you do, then we might be able to suggest a workflow to produce what you seem to be asking for.

It sounds as if you are trying to have the percussion map perform a function Dorico would use the Kit editor for, but unless we can see a sample output that requires the feature you want, we cannot be sure.
