Percussion is going to be the death of me. I am working on a piece, and I can’t get the snare and bass drum to merge into one kit. I set them up, moved them to where I wanted them, and selected 5-line staff. However, they wouldn’t show up correctly. So, I removed all the kits to try and start over but now they are not even registering as percussion instruments, so I can’t change their staff layout. I want the snare and bass drum on one 5-line staff with the snare on the 3 space and bass drum on the first space. I want the snare staff to go up and bass drum staff to go down. I also want a separate line for crash cymbals and gong.

I have decided to put my Crash Cymbal/Gong on the same line. I tried a single-line format and hated it, so I switched back to the 5-line format. However, now it’s very inconvenient to edit. (1) my gong whole notes when on the same staff as crash cymbals get changed to some weird tied rhythm with four quarter notes or two quarter notes and a half note. I tried changing the voice, but no luck. (2) I want to change the crash cymbal notehead to an X shape, but I can’t simply select all the cymbal notes and change them at once. It selects the gong notes too, so I would to go through and change each individual notehead to an X shape. Please help! BB Piece.dorico (3.8 MB)
@jesele That’s part of it! I also want to know why I can’t make the gong part have an actual whole note when played in the same measures as the crash cymbals. Thanks!
