Does Cubase 14 have the timeline-based and loop-based editing option in addition to the arranger tack? It’s also called performance mode. Ableton mainly works this way. I really should, but I want to switch from Cubase to something else. Thank you!
Not in the way you’re thinking with Ableton. You’ve got some really powerful new pattern-based tracks and features, even with samples, but you don’t have the same kind of approach where you have multiple lanes per track each with it’s own set of events and launch options in Session View but with the option of switching to timeline-based Arrangement View.
Probably best to try the free trial and see if you like it. I actually use both, because they approach it in 2 different ways (Ableton and Cubase) and I like each for different reasons. I actually keep Ableton loaded with outputs directly into Cubase via UAD virtual channels for this very reason.
But if you “want to switch from Cubase” then that’s certainly your decision

I am using VST Live for performance.
way easier interface, but somehow other logic on loops.
I am more a live keyboarder, using drums loops for practice.
Instrument integration is much easier in VST Live, better Window control.
Thanks for your answer!
