Piano pedaling

Here’s a simple question - perhaps without a simple answer - regarding the playback of piano pedaling: Is there a way to increase the length and resonance of notes sustained with the pedal in playback. There’s a slow passage in a solo piano piece where the sustain dies too quickly, and I’d like to find a way to prolong it. I’m using HALion Sonic and Dorico 6.2.

You could try a different piano sound. Etude Elements includes a few different presets, so you could open the HALion Sonic window and try loading a different preset in there.

That’s a function of your VST. Try Pianoteq. You have a lot of control over pedal there. It is of course quite expensive, but you get what you pay for. This is not a Dorico engraving option or issue per se. You may consider adding a reverb VST also.
