Piano/Prologue

Haven’t posted anything for a long time. Doing mainly midi piano based pop/orchestral ect. of late. Only a relative learner on keys but with cubase its so easy to add layers.

First time using Prologue as well.

Feedback on mix would be helpful to know how Im doing?

The mix is great. Maybe hard limited ?

Thanks, I use Ozone 9 so I guess that’s the characteristics of the “classic mix down” preset I tend to use.

You’re doing well! I think Ozone9 doesn’t offer any reverb. But several good reverbs in Cubase.

Interestingly I don’t use reverb on the final mix down as I find it can have a harshness to it.

I mainly use it on acoustic or electric guitars on tracks.

I have Ozone 11 but I don’t like it. Ozone 9 allows you much more freedom to adjust a range of settings manually.

The mix sounds pretty good to me :smiling_face_with_sunglasses: .

I like the synth sound :+1:
I would use more compression on single tracks as well as busses to level out peaks and to get more glue. Maybe try to use some parallel compression, too?

Thanks, I have my fader channels change to yellow when they hit -12 so I aim to keep everything out of the yellow except the drums may go over a bit. I mix on my monitors but check mix with headphones for balance of mix.

I use Cubase compressors on Bass and guitar busses plus Drawmer compressor on master bus normally.
