Pickup Bar with shortened ending

After looking everywhere for a solution with no success I have to ask here:

I can’t get Dorico to automatically shorten the last bar of a piece when I enter a pickup bar. To manually shorten the last bar by changing the time signature and hide the time signature symbol doesn’t feel right.

Thanks for any help!

Select the final beat rest, open the Bars popover with Shift+B, type final, and hit Enter. If you wind up with an empty bar at the end after this, do Shift+B again, type trim, and hit Enter.

That’s what I did already, but nothing changes. The “final” bar stays in 4/4.

I’m not sure why this wouldn’t work for you. Can you upload your project?

fin works also  (and it means end in French, so easy to remember for me!)

My fault! I tried without entering notes, so I couldn’t select the final rest.

Now it works! Thanks for your help!

Wouldn’t work using Shift-B and then -1q work also? Would be more intuitive for me, since all I want is for that last quarter to be gone…?
