Pink rectangle?

Does anyone know what this is? I’d look it up but I don’t know what to search for. I want to hide it from the score. Clearly it has something to do with me creating a pickup bar, but that’s all I can tell.

It’s a signpost.

Yes, it’s called a “Signpost”. Dorico uses signposts to show you all kinds of things which are invisible on the printed page; but which you need to know about when you’re working on the document.

As you guessed, this shows you that the first bar is a pickup bar. (In fairness, it doesn’t actually tell you that there’s only 1 beat in this particular bar; but it does tell you that something is different about this 4/4 bar.)

Signposts show the position of System Breaks, hidden notation, changes to various settings, and more.

You can hide all Signposts in the View menu. But bear in mind that we get a lot of people posting here, saying “Why is Dorico doing this?”, and only when they turn on the signposts can they understand.
