Pitch bend notation

Hi all,

How would I create this pitch bend notation in Dorico? I tried to use the guitar pitch bend, but it only will attach between 2 notes.

Thanks!

I have not tried it myself, but can you untie the note (by selecting it and hitting the D key)?
Then select the two notes for your pitch bend, apply and re-tie the note.

I tried that, but it won’t let you attach it unless the following note is a different pitch.

Since the guitar pitch bend tool is designed to link two notes, you should use the Jazz Ornaments section in the Ornaments panel instead. Selecting your note and clicking the Bend icon will attach the notation to that single note without requiring a destination. You can then use the Properties panel at the bottom to tweak the curvature and length to match your reference exactly.

Interestingly you can if you enter the 2nd note (Using your example) as C#, then enter the bend, then re-spell the C# to Db (Alt = ).

It doesn’t survive re-tieing, but you could use a slur and adjust in Engrave.

Hi @westla, adding and experimenting with the suggestions above, here a guide on how to insert Gutar Bend on tie chains (workaround).
Edit: Possibly you can skip step 1 and 4, and write the tie chain from the beginning, you then need the caret to insert the second voice at the needed places:

Dorico file example:

That is great! Thanks!!

Glad it was helpful, @westla (As I wrote in my edited post, you can skip step 1 and 4…)
