Pitch correcting duplicated vocal tracks / splitting vocal lines to pitch correct

I’m using Cubase 12 Pro and have been pitch correcting some vocal lines using VariAudio.

I have a vocal line that is essentially two consecutive words sung on different pitches, but it is like one continuous piece of audio as one word blends into the next without a gap.

How do I pitch correct ONE of the words/notes in a vocal part like this without affecting the other? I can split the audio using the cut tool in the main Cubase audio editor window, but in VariAudio it does not split the audio but just views it as one note. So any pitch correction I do affects both parts of the vocal line. Is there any way to split audio in VariAudio?

The second way I thought to try in order to do this was to duplicate the vocal line as a separate track then pitch correct the part of the vocal line in the duplicate track, however it appears that whatever pitch correction I do in the duplicate track is also applied to the previous track, so how do I get round this? Is there a setting so that if you pitch correct a duplicated track it does not affect the previous track? Thanks.

Yes, you can split a note, there’s a scissor that comes up when you hover at the right place.

Before commencing with pitch corrections, right click on the audio event on the duplicate track, and Convert to Real Copy. From then on, any change you make will be specific to the event.

Thanks - I managed to find the split tool in VariAudio so that’s usesful. I could not see the option to ‘Convert to Real Copy’ when right clicking on an audio event, though.

Ah, yes, sorry. It’s Ctrl+Right Click if right click is set to bring up the toolbox.
