Placing a fermata also places a fermata on an other note, and cannot remove it. help?

I would like the fermata to only be on the top note, but if I put it there it also automatically puts one on the bottom notes. I cant remove one without removing the other because they are linked. How do I fix this?

Well, that is the correct notation. But if you want it only on one staff, create a custom playing technique with the fermata glyph and place it wherever you want.

Alternatively. In Engrave, select just the lower fermata and drag it off the page (clumsy but it works).

Correct, but some objects behave weirdly when doing that, especially if they are attached to multi-staff instruments (they cause vertical staff spacing issues).
