I can’t believe Nuendo V15 has changed the Play tool behaviour! Nooooooo! The Play tool stopping on mouse release (and not jumping back) was the reason I chose Nuendo as my DAW, after many years of trying to find a DAW that offered this - which is the way I used to edit on Soundscape in the 90s. Do I have to go back to V.14?
Yes, this new behaviour is so bad. I find I’m listening through voice takes with a client using this tool . After listening to a bunch of takes, and hearing a potential go take I release the mouse anl lose my place and need to listen again. It’s a nightmare!
I’m sure someone will tell me to just play the timeline but when you have heaps of takes spread across heaps of track, the play tool is the only sensible option.
I am mystified as to why Steinberg has done this. As I say, this Play tool feature - which I couldn’t find in any other modern DAW, but which was the way I used to find edit points and audition takes in Soundscape in the 1990s - was a defining reason why I settled on Nuendo as my current DAW.
It is even more bizarre that Steinberg hasn’t even left it as an option, when Nuendo is dripping with customizable options. Surely this is something they need to put back as an option in the next update? How can we encourage them to do this? For the moment I have had to go back to Nuendo 14 for audio editing. Just when, after many years, you think you’ve found the perfect DAW!
