Playback delay

Hi Cubasers!

I am a total newbe to cubase and i am working on my first small projects at the moment, just playing around with settings and so on. Initialy i have a very annoying problem with playback being delayed. So, if i record a track with metronome, all perfect in time at the moment and then listen to the recording with metronome, it is slightly delayed. Extremely frustrating! Anyone that have experienced the same issue? I am using a quite old audio interface so i guess that it could be a part of the problem but there is no latency with the direct monitoring.

Direct monitoring does not involve Cubase. You monitor what is coming into the interface. That is why there is no latency. The problem could be your audio interface not reporting correctly so the audio is not in the correct place. You don’t say what the old interface is? Are there recent drivers for it or are those old too?

Thanks for the respond! I´m using a steinberg CI2 wich is quite old as i mentioned and i doubt there is a update for it. I haven´t even bother checking. I just want to determine if it is the actual interface or some settings in cubase. Might be a good investment with a new interface anyway…

So you are talking about recording audio while listening to the Cubase metronome? Is the resulting audio track also delayed compared to the grid in the arrangement window?
Can you post a screenshot of the recorded audio together with your grid (best in bars+beats mode)?

I just made a simple recording with a kickdrum perfect in time to the metronome. When i listen to it, it is slightly of as you can see on the screenshot. So, it is either my out of date audio interface, my computer that is not capable to process it or some setting?

If you are in Windows, you could try “use system timestamp for Windows midi” in the studio setup

Dude, thanks! It worked straight away!
