Playback difference between Dorico and MIDI export to Cubase

I do not know whether this belongs in the Cubase category, or the Dorico category, or the Pianoteq forum. But I shall start here.

Using Pianoteq 9 Std, if find almost no difference between dynamics, and can barely hear pp or lower. Yes, I have played with the power curve setting to no avail, and all the settings i can guess at in Pianoteq (great VST but the manual is very sparse on detail.). And I have played with the Dorico mixer (a common source of posts about low volume).

Yet when I export the MIDI for the piece and run it into Cubase Pro 15 the dynamics are clear and strong, with no FX inserts or any fiddling.

Why would this be?

maybe…velocity’s difference between dorico and cubase.if you haven’t add any plugin.

The user is probably Chinese and reading this forum with a Chinese filter, but he did answer you in English.

Never seen that before. Odd to assume I would be able to understand a Chinese quote.

In any case, that’s part of the question - why would velocity differ? Shouldn’t it be the same throughout?

That would be the expectation. Just so I am clear: You are using the same Pianoteq in both apps, correct?

Some thoughts of things to try:

Since this is not my “strong suit,” is there a way to check the velocity stream in both apps — do they match?

What happens if you export from Cubase back into Dorico (if that can even be done)?
