I’m working with a mandolin VSTi that has 3 types of tremolos: unmeasured and 2 measured. The measured tremolos sync to the host and trigger samples for 16ths and 16th triplets for slow and fast measured tremolos.
My goal for the notation is to be able to only use different numbers of hashes on the stem to represent each tremolo type and to not need Playing Techniques.
This is how far I got. I can route the unmeasured tremolo to a buzz roll and the fast measured tremolo to 3 hashes. The slow measured tremolo I need a combo of Tremolo with a custom Playback Technique. Using 2 hashes seems to override my Playback Technique and reverts to machine-gunning the natural plucked technique.

In an ideal world, I’d like to be able to hook into Playback Techniques of tremolos with specific numbers of hashes via Expression Maps to trigger samples.
A less ideal solution (but still a handy additional option) could be the ability to suppress Dorico’s automatic playback of any kind of tremolo, like how you can with trills. This would allow you to use whatever kind of tremolo you deem appropriate. Then, you could use different Playing Techniques for each and hide them.
In the meantime, I’m open to any other ideas and workarounds!
