Playback drops notes

Notes are dropping after the initial attack in some of my scores. I havent had this problem in any files except ones using this specific template, as far as I’ve noticed (but maybe it has happened and I haven’t noticed). It’s not a big deal, but I am just wondering why it is happening.

In this arrangement it is happening in the last 4-5 measures in multiple instruments:

My Old Flame.dorico (1.1 MB)

I use noteperformer and because I have an old computer I am limited to this version of Dorico:

Version 5.1.51.2153 (Aug 6 2024)

Dorico 5 AudioEngine Version 5.6.41.124

Hi @piping_hot_licks ,
do those drop outs also happen during audio export with you?
I tried playback with Dorico 5 on my machine and seem to have no issues with dropping notes. Could you maybe make a simple recording via smartphone so that I (we) could hear what you are hearing during playback?
Thanks

This is very strange.
It appears to be related to the swing, but it only affects the Violin 1 (not Violin 2).

If you change tempo back to straight in bar 66, the problem goes away. But it persists if you change to straight in bar 67.

You’re right, removing swing “fixes” it. But the point is to give the band a quick listen before rehearsal (mainly for the non-reader in the band–you guessed it, the guitar) so obvs swing is more important than a couple notes dropping here and there.

:joy:

it does cut out on export as well. Here are the last few measures (starts at pick up to 65) from an export.

I don’t have a solution. I was just trying to help with the identification of the problem.

What if you try and change the violins to a percussive sound, does that get played even with swing switched on. Maybe the string sound has a too long attack time and therefore the short notes don’t get played.

It’s only in those couple measures though.

I don’t know, it’s not my field of expertise here. Maybe my dear colleague @dspreadbury can say something about it.
