Playback Engines Discontinued

Been off the forums for a while and catching up …

Well this is unfortunate @Wallander , NP with Playback Engines is an important part of my workflow which is finished stems for Media. Using the same VST library in NP and then transitioning to VEP for final stemming is a great process as I’ve got easy early entry into how the final will sound without fussing, and later can have fine control. Skimming the comments I understand the problem however.

FWIW this means for me abandoning NP altogether and just starting first in the process using Vienna Ensemble Pro. It’s probably better actually, the Playback Engines aren’t without problems, I get hiccups, sometimes it hangs on loads, etc. I’ve wondered if it’s more trouble than it’s worth for big templates like I use. Simplifying the toolchain is always welcome, and meanwhile Dorico humanization gets better and better.

So too bad, I wish I hadn’t gone down this path at all but kind of glad I have an excuse to pitch it now as the issues - which were promised to be fixed in the next release -basically killed the benefits of using NP at all.
