I am writing a solo cello work, and I include high notes in the cello range, such as A5 and C6. These are not sounding during playback. I refer to the “Library → Instruments” page, and under cello, the advanced range is listed up to E6, which includes these pitches. How do I get advanced range notes to play?
The ranges as defined in the library don’t have anything to do with playback, they just control the proofreading warnings and red ‘out of range’ noteheads. It depends on the cello patch you’re using whether or not it’s got samples for those notes.
You would need to use a sample library that has sufficient range.
(NotePerformer for example is not range limited)
Thanks all. Time for me to get Noteperformer … (!).
There’s a 30-day free trial and also a rent-to-own scheme.
Good to know. Does it integrate well with Dorico, and is easy to plug in?
NotePerformer installs as a Dorico factory playback template. So it could not be easier.
Try it and see if you like it.
will do, thanks.
I did the rent-to-own. It’s very reasonable, and once you meet the full purchase price it automatically stops charging your account!
