Playback Mapping - Percussion Sounds (Dorico Pro 5 & NotePerformer 4)

Hi, Team,

I’m using Dorico Pro 5 and NotePerformer 4. I have one staff with a small percussion kit for which I’ve chosen snare drum, bongos and two wood blocks (mid and low pitches). I put everything together on the grid, and while Dorico gives me the option to choose instruments (by name) from a dropdown, upon entry and playback I’m just hearing the same generic drum sound on every line except the snare.

I went into Play mode and checked out the NotePerformer mixer, but can’t see how to override the sounds or choose other options. I’m also not sure I understand why the various sounds are grouped the way they are (i.e., when I click on my percussionist and go to the NotePerformer mixer, I see two “orchestral percussion” tracks, piano, violin, viola, cello and flute, but when I click on another instrument I get the other instruments grouped on a separate mixer.

I thought maybe I could just delete/update the channels, but how do I know which line in my kit each one corresponds to?

Thanks for your help!

UPDATE: I went back to the drawing board and ended up adding all my instruments as individual staves and then adding each of those staves to my percussion kit “from existing players.”

Works perfectly. Seems like at least my solution is setting it up from the get-go in the right order.
