Greetings Good Folk,
I’m working on a piece for a 24-piece chamber choir, which at points has divisi closing in at 20 different parts.
I’m trying to create a playback template that minimizes the load on my machine - 20 different instruments running as separate instruments is creating quite the tax on my machine, which sets the fan running hard and constantly.
My thinking was, if I could create a multi for each section (soprano, alto, etc.) with six instances each to handle divisi (with outputs 1-6), then I would only have four multis total with each part routed to the appropriate place (Soprano 3 in the Soprano Multi, Alto 6 in the Alto Multi, etc.)
However, when I tried applying this new playback template to the project, it opened up a multi for each part - so instead of four multis with 6 slots for each potential part, I have 20 multis with 6 slots for each potential part, which predictably creates even more strain on my machine.
Clearly, I’m doing something wrong. I’ve read through the appropriate documentation and am still stumped. Any insights into a clear and efficient way to set things up to accomplish what I’m trying to accomplish would be so appreciated.
Also, in case it matters, the libraries I’m working with are from Native Instruments.
