Playback tempo

I have a piece in 3/8 that I want played Andante with an eighth note = 78 beats per minute.

I can’t figure out how to set the tempo on the playback to this. The playback is always very fast. I know there must be a way to change the playback tempo, but I can’t figure it out.

Also, the default tempo marked Andante in the tempos panel is set to quarter note = 80. How do I change that?

This is an easy problem to solve. Follow these steps:

  1. click on a note or something where you want the tempo indication while in Write Mode.
  2. Press “shift-T” to get the tempo popover
  3. Type Andante e=78

Dorico will understand the ‘e’ to mean eighth-note.

You can also reset the metronome setting for a given tempo indication via the Properties panel.
