Playback will not "play"

Today when I open two dorico files that I have worked on previously, I do not hear any sound when I enter notes and when I click “play” from any possible way to click it, the playback head does not advance.

As far as I know i have not changed any settings, and these files worked in the past with regard to notes sounding and playback.

I have gone to Edit > device setup and noted that it is set to built in audio, and that cofigure automatically is checked. No joy.

It is true that I updated the Mac OS recently. Does this mean that I don’t get to have audio anymore with dorico 6? …. or that I have to spend an hour updating to the latest dorico release to get sound?

lasty, there is a teeeeeeny tiiiiiiiiny little red caution symbol on the lower left corner of the dorico windo that points to the audio configuration. But there is nothing in the actual configuration setup that allows me to do anything different than what I described above.

Suggestions?

Hi @jakeysworld , is it any project that you open that has no playback or only specific ones?
Please load a non-sounding project and once it’s finished loading, please choose from Dorico’s menu Help > Creating Diagnostic Report. The resulting zip file please post here.
Thanks

Is play activated for your file? Just a thought. On the screen shot, it is the blue solid square with the power symbol. Another option would be to look under Preferences>Play>Audio Device Setup. On my Mac, I make sure that rate is 48000Hz and that I select my active device (could be Speakers, Headphones or an aggregate device).

The first thing I always try–particularly after an update–is to re-apply the Playback Template from the Play menu.

Hiya,

Yes, Play is activated, device setup is set up as you describe (48000 hz, etc.).
Playhead doesn’t move and no sound.

the diagnostic report for even a file with only one lead sheet in it is 7.7 mb and it doesn’t seem to matter if I remove the playback template or not. I can’t up load a zip file of that size here.

If you choose the playback template “Silent” the file should be significantly smaller.

You can also upload it to Google Drive, Dropbox, WeTransfer etc. and paste the link here.

Then please send directly via e-mail to
