Playback written quantization, not recorded midi timing

How do we get playback to play as seen rather than as recorded?
ie for some “sloppy” midi input, i can quantise so its visually correct but it still plays back as recorded. I have altered quantise set in the input (on preferences page) and applied requantize in the edit option. Still playsback with the “sloppy” timing rather than what is seen on the score.
thanks

I think Reset Playback Overrides. With the notes selected.

Jesper

thanks, i did try that but it had no audible affect

If you requantize first, select everything and then reset?

Jesper

yes, done that. Still sounds how i played/recorded it.
Am i missing a setting to playback as recorded/written that can be toggled?

Works for me. Not sure if this button in Play mode has any effect on what’s played. Not my forte to be honnest.

Jesper

that makes it display between recorded version and the notated version.
still cant hear any difference.
thanks for your persistent in offering help

Strange, I did a test, played unrhythmically in Logic. Exported the MIDI.
In Dorico used requantize and then. Select all and Reset Playback overrides.
It worked for me.

Jesper

here’s the file. see if it quantises your end
sloppy quavers.dorico (576.9 KB)

ah- i got it.
You have to select the notes first! duh!!
then, from the play dialogue, choose reset playback overrides.
my bad as i thought it was a general apply to the whole piece.

i did wonder if there is something that will quantise upon recording as it seems quite sensitive and grouping note into phrases and multi-voices where i just want very simple notation without having to tidy everything up after recording

As I said before but glad you finally got it working.

Jesper

It is actually very useful that you can re-quantize specific sections with different parameters.
