Player names: "b" changes to "flat"

I’m using Dorico in German and have discovered something reproducible:

  • Create new empty score
  • Add clarinet in Bb. The new player is called “Klarinette (Bb)”
  • Open engraving options, switch instrument language to English, check box to rename players. The player is now called “Clarinet (Bb)” - that’s how it should be.
  • Save file, close Dorico, reopen file.
  • The player is now called “Clarinet (B Flat)”. Not good.

Dorico somehow forgets that it was “Bb” and changes it to “B flat” every time I open the file. This is quite annoying, as the piece I’m working on is almost done, and now every time I open it and fix a small thing, I have to remember to do all the language-siwtchy-doodle to get the correct names back before printing.

Thanks for reporting this. I’ve spent some time looking into this today and we should be able to fix this in the next update, all being well.

dorico french version

While we’re at it, instead of Flügehorn in German, we have Flugelhorn without trema in the instrument selector.
