I want two flows. In the first flow I only want piano, and two vocal soloists (sorprano 1 & 2). I want to duplicate Flow 1 to flow 2, but in flow e I want to add string quartet.
When I add the string quartet in Setup, I thought I would be able to select flow 1 and uncheck the quartet players and that the score page would show just the piano and two soloists. And it did. But it did the same thing to flow 2.
Perhaps select the string players at the left and untick the first flow at the bottom.
Should work either way. Are you sure the first Flow was selected when you unticked the strings? Should turn bright blue.
The box for flow 1 is unticked, but the box for flow 2 is ticked.
These two images show the same thing, just from different perspectives. You can either select flow 1 at the bottom and untick the strings, or select the strings in the left panel and untick flow 1.
Setup mode can be a little tricky to grasp at first. It shows the relationships among players, flows, and layouts, but always from the perspective of one of them. When you select a flow, it turns bright blue, and you can see which players and layouts it’s wired up to by looking at their checkboxes. When you select a player, it turns bright blue, and you’ll see the checkboxes on flows and layouts.
In the left column, select Vln 1, press and hold Shift, select Cello: the 4 players of the string quartet should then be selected (bright blue) and you should see checkboxes in the flows.
So i’ve simplified the score to no string quartet but just solo violin just so i can figure this out. the ss shows the ticked box but that it is not showing on the score page in flow 2
It would really help if you could upload your project file. Your screenshot shows that the violin is part of flow 2, but we can’t see whether that flow and that player are part of the layout you’re currently viewing.
OK but if i scroll ahead in flow 1 i see the violin staff also. And, i don’t understand why the violin staff is at the end. I would expect to see it at the start.
There is no violin until you get to flow 2 – the right hand part of the screen in my screenshot above is where flow 2 starts (looks like an empty bar with a single beat). Everything before that is flow 1, which (correctly) has no violin.
