Playhead location between modes

I’m in Play Mode and the playhead is at (for example) m. 9. When I switch to Write Mode, the playhead is at m. 9, but the screen shows m. 33 (even though “Follow Playhead” is selected). I then move the screen to m. 9 in Write Mode to view the playhead. Switching back to Play Mode, the playhead is still at m. 9, but if I go back to Write Mode, the playhead is now back to m. 33.

Is it possible to switch back and forth (Play—Write) and view the playhead without having to scroll to it in Write Mode?

I’m not sure I know enough from your description to understand what the problem is. Is the problem that you want to start playback from measure 9? If so, I wouldn’t search for the playhead. I would choose a single note in measure 9 and press the P key.

Please let us know if that is not the problem you are facing.

Thank you for your response.

What I’m expecting is that the playhead will be visible when switching back and forth between “Play” and “Write” modes.

Just now—after letting Dorico “rest” for ~18 hours—that is what is happening. (The playhead is visible when going back and forth between modes.) I have no idea what is different, but that problem seems to have gone away (at least temporarily).

My guess is a selection corresponded to the play head (same location). The Follow Playhead option is just for playback. Unless the play head is moved somehow, it will remain where playback ended regardless of the current mode or selection.
