Playing a Virtual Instument on an Audio track

I have a friend who uses Magix Samplitude for his daw and the tracks are set-up to use Midi or audio
That includes playing a virtual instrument and rendering audio from it on the track, is Cubase able to do this
I already know how to render after the fact, but during the recording
